After my flights to St. Maarten (click here to watch that video), of course I also needed to get home. For that, I picked flights on not one, but two, ex-US Airways, now American Airlines, A330’s. An ex-US A330-200 would fly me from St. Maarten (SXM) to Philadelphia (PHL), and a -300 would fly me to London (LHR).
The flight from SXM was a bit delayed coming in, but nothing major. In PHL I visited the British Airways lounge, which I was surprised to find was there! With the OneWorld Sapphire status I had earned with my flights to SXM, I got access. After a quick Gin & Tonic I ‘hopped the pond’ to London Heathrow. After that I flew back home to Amsterdam (which is not included in the video).
The seats in Business Class (or First Class, if you’re flying domestically) on these Airbusses are full-flat, reverse herringbone seats in a 1-2-1 configuration. US Airways was one of the first to use this type, I believe, and at the time was ahead of it’s time. This type of seat is now more common, which is nice, as they’re great, especially for long-hauls.
Please, check out the video – either in the embedded player above, or click here for the video on YouTube, which I would recommend.
Have you been flown these ex-US Airways, now American Airlines A330’s? Please let me know in the comments!
PPS Sorry, I’ve mis-spelled Philadelphia as Philidelphia in the video – my apologies to all Philadelphians!
