Garuda Indonesia Business Class

The final flight of my trips during the spring of this year was with Indonesia’s flag carrier Garuda Indonesia. I had a seat in Business Class, or as Garuda like to call it, Executive Class.

Garuda has had a bad rep for a few years as they’ve been banned from flying in the US and the EU. But both bans have been lifted for a while, and the Indonesian airline has undergone quite the transformation, with the ultimate reward of being recognized as a 5 star airline by SkyTrax.

My experience with them was good. In the air it was great, but on the ground it was ‘just’ OK. The lounge is OK, the boarding procedure also is OK – I’ve had much better and much worse. Once I was on board I could better feel the service Garuda has won its 5 stars for. Both hard- and soft-product on board are excellent. Sure, the seats on the 77W aren’t the newest out there, but they’re comfortable and spacious enough. The Flight Attendants were very good.

All in all I enjoyed my flight home to Amsterdam, and would fly Garuda Indonesia again in a heartbeat!

Have you ever flown Garuda? What did you think?
