Oops, I did it again: another flight in First Class. Qatar First Class, this time, in their Airbus A380. I flew the redeye from Doha to Bangkok. Earlier in the day I had come from Abu Dhabi (the wonderful KLM Dreamliner – click for video had taken me there) and waited for this flight in the new Al Safwa First Class Lounge (click for video) at Hamad International Airport.
When it was time to board I was collected by a hostess from the Al Maha meet & greet service and was brought to the gate. Qatar has waiting areas on two levels, to allow for seperate boarding for Premium (First, Business) passengers (second level) and Economy Class passengers (first level) – which is something Etihad’s hub in Abu Dhabi can learn something from, in my opinion.
Once on board I noticed that Qatar keeps the light dimmed & in a red/pink color for night-time aka redeye fligths. Probably only an issues if you like to film and take photos – like me! Oh well. It does mean the quality of the video is a little bit lower then I’d like it to be. I hope you forgive me.
Please watch the video to see how my flight was!
I was ably to fly this First Class product pretty cheap! A while ago I got some GOL Smiles award miles on the cheap, and their partner award-chart has a sweet spot for a few of Qatar’s routes. For only 65k GOL Smiles miles I was able to book AUH-DOH-BKK-DOH-CAI, all in First Class, which is a pretty good deal if you ask me!
Please, check out the video – either in the embedded player above, or click here for the video on YouTube, which I would recommend.
What do you think of First Class on board Qatar’s A380? Let me know in the comments!
